The Wilds Amazon release date: December 11th

The Wilds TV series: Amazon Studios focuses strongly on Young Adult plots by ordering The Wilds, a new series halfway between Lost and Pretty Little Liars. The Wilds will be available from Friday 11 December on Amazon Prime Video.

The series is co-produced by Amazon Studios and ABC Studios. Amy B. Harris serves as executive producer and showrunner. Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, revealed that she is thrilled to work on this new project: “We are thrilled to share this exciting original vision with our global audience. We are proud to be the home for this authentically voiced, high stakes show brought to life by the talented Sarah Streicher, Amy B. Harris and our ABC Signature Studios partners.”

The Wilds isn’t the only teen drama series greenlighted by the e-commerce giant’s streaming service. Amazon has also ordered the first season of Panic, a TV series similar to the Hunger Games, whereas the tv series College has been sidelined.

The Wilds Amazon plot: what is it about?

The Wilds is the story of a group of teenage girls of different origins. The protagonists find themselves on a deserted island, unaware that they were brought there as part of a social experiment.

The series will explore the past of the girls and it will investigate their psychological evolution in a situation with such a high degree of stress. The girls will have to find a way to survive and to work as a group, even when it will not be easy at all.

The Wilds Amazon cast: actors and characters

Who is part of the cast of The Wilds? The latest addition is Rachel Griffiths (Six Feet Under), who joins the already nurtured cast as Gretchen Klein, an ambitious intellectual who runs an all-girls enhancement class. David Sullivan (Goliath) is Dr. Daniel Faber, a precious collaborator of the FBI whose main skill is to obtain information during the interrogations. Troy Winbush (The Goldbergs) plays Agent Dean Young, a kind but hard-hitting detective.

Sophia Ali (Grey’s Anatomy) is Fatin Jadmani, an unconventional girl both in terms of fashion and sexuality who hides a troubled past. She withdraws from the group when it comes to helping the others out, thus being considered a slacker to the others. Sarah Pidgeon (Gotham) plays Leah Rilke, who spends her time reading, writing and observing the world. Jenna Clause is Martha Blackburn, an animal lover with low self-esteem and a big heart. Erana James (Golden Boy) plays Toni Shalifoe, a tomboy who is loyal and loving.

Mia Healey plays Shelby, a God-fearing Texan who flaunts confidence to mask her fragilities. Helena Howard (Madeline’s Madeline) is Nora, an introvert girl who is forced to weave relationships with her companions in misadventure. Reign Edwards (Snowfall, The Bold and the Beautiful) plays Rachel, an Olympic diver who can’t wait to return to her sporting career. Finally, Shannon Berry (Hunters) is Dot, a country girl with strong nerves and a thick skin.

Chi Nguyen (Repent or Perish!) plays Jeanette Dao, a pop culture enthusiast and was born on Valentine’s Day. Her extroverted attitude hides the shadows of his past. Jarred Blakiston (The New Legends of Monkey) is Alex, while Joe Witkowski (Shadow In The Cloud) stars as Thom. Jose Velazquez (The Prom) also appears in the first season as Mateo and James Fraser (The Water Diviner) as Ian Murnen.

The Wilds episodes: how many are there

The first season is made of ten episodes. The Wilds is created by Sarah Stricher, showrunner and executive producer of the series, and co-produced by Amazon Studios and ABC Signature Studios. Other executive producers are Amy B. Harris, Brian Williams, Dylan Clark, Jamie Tarses and Susanna Fogel, who also directed the pilot.

The Wilds on Amazon streaming: where to watch it
